Karelia Berries works in the safest in ecological sense region — Republic of Karelia. The company is located in the centre of natural habitat of wild berries — lingonberry, bilberry, cloudberry, cranberry, blueberry, crowberry.
In order to support stable procurement of primary products and not to be influenced by bad harvests on some territories we procure wild berries and mushrooms in the areas of northwestern part of Russia — Republic of Karelia, Komi Republic, Murmansk, Pskov, Leningrad, Novgorod, Arkhangelsk, Vologda regions (Oblasts). We purchase berries from people of the community via system of organized units. Our sustainable suppliers have their own freezers and transport means.
Karelia Berries is a long-term leader in purchasing on the territory of our native region republic of Karelia. We buy most of our berries here. We have a net of representative units in the region so that we are able to provide freezing berries and mushrooms on a day-to-day basis near the places of harvesting with following transportation in large lots to the factory. Each unit has freezers with capacity of 200–300 tons; the freezers are equipped with deep freeze tunnel. Each unit has own transport means, personnel and necessary equipment. Properly frozen and packed berries are transported in lots of 20 tons to the main factory in Kostomuksha where they are to be cleaned and processed. We have fleet of trucks with capacity that differs within 1.5–20 tons so we are able to deliver fresh berries promptly to the factory.
Our quality control system and immediate freezing at the places of harvesting allows us to increase quality of our products essentially and decrease purchase and transportation costs. All that let the company provide stable harvesting and competitive position at the market.
